It is accepted by all English language academies and professional bodies. It is one of the two major test for English language along with IELTS. TOEFL is a trade mark of ETS (Educational Testing Service).
TOEFL basically provides two patterns by which a student can appear for exam. One is iBT and other is PBT. In India the iBT pattern is available. In India there are 30 centres which provide TOEFL exams. The TOEFL exam format is as follows:-
Read 3 or 4 passages from academic texts and answer questions.
Listen to lectures, classroom discussions and conversations, and then answer questions.
Express an opinion on a familiar topic; speak based on reading and listening tasks.
Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing.
The total score is the sum of scores of all the four sections. The scores are been posted after the 10 days of exam date. The scores can be viewed online as well. ETS will send up to four official score reports directly to the institutions the student selects.

Human ratters are required to attend to a wider variety of features, such as the quality of ideas and content as well as form.
